Following the launch of the public consultation on the renewal of the BBC's Royal Charter, and in advance of the UK Government's proposals in early 2016, this seminar will provide a timely opportunity to consider the impact of re-negotiations of the Corporation's scope, structure and funding on Scottish audiences and the creative market.
Delegates will discuss the ongoing role of the Scottish Parliament in the review process - following the Memorandum of Understanding between the UK Government, Scottish Parliament and BBC - as well as issues around the BBC’s ability to reflect regional needs and support the wider creative industries.
The conference will bring together policymakers from the Scottish Government and Parliament with key stakeholders from the creative sector; investors, analysts and advisors; and audience groups, academics and commentators.
David Fleetwood, Programme Manager, Innovation and Investment Hubs and Broadcasting Policy, The Scottish Government and Bill Matthews, Trustee for Scotland, BBC Trust have agreed to deliver keynote addresses at this seminar.
