ESSA champions the g-Guide
The Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA) has declared its wholehearted support for the g-Guide, a document whose guidance is aimed at creating a set of minimum standards to safeguard the health and safety of any person working at or visiting an event or exhibition overseas.
The g-Guide represents a suggested minimum standard to which organisers aspire to, in connection with running an event or exhibition. The document calls upon organisers' employees, contractors and exhibitors to comply with these guidelines, the organiser's health and safety policy and local relevant laws regarding health and safety; to safeguard the health and safety of themselves and others who may be affected by their acts or omissions; to seek advice where there is any doubt regarding the correct action to take or the standard required, and to comply with the reasonable requests of the organiser's appointed health and safety staff and floor managers or any other health and safety official.
ESSA director Chris Skeith commented: “ESSA is delighted to support the g-Guide as it strives to improve standards on an international basis. This benefits everyone who works overseas or who seeks to work with consistent, high standards of operation. We would encourage all ESSA members to support the standards within the g-Guide.
“The industry has seen a very strong move towards harmonised standards in the UK and we are pleased to see this principle being extended overseas, I am confident that all ESSA members will be equally supportive.”
