Record visitor rise reported at Cake & Bake Show

The award winning Cake & Bake Show has announced another sell-out success in London, with the show attracting 30,508 baking fans over the weekend (unaudited).

The award winning Cake & Bake Show has announced another sell-out success in London, with the show attracting 30,508 baking fans over the weekend (unaudited).

The show was recently named Event of the Year at the British Media Awards and returned to Earls Court for its second show on 13-15 September, welcoming a 45 per cent rise in visitors, up from 21,000 (unaudited) at the first show in 2012.

Show Director Luke Collings, commented: “Since its launch last year the show has gone from strength to strength and we’re delighted with the visitor numbers for our second London event. Britain’s passion for baking is as strong as ever and we were overwhelmed by the enthusiasm of our visitors.”

Highlights of the baking show included a Nielsen-Massey Cupcakes and Cocktails Bar, the Cake Catwalk, Wedding Cake of The Future, a chocolate sculpture of Batman and cakes galore.

Baking stars including Simon Rimmer, Eric Lanlard, Tom and Henry Herbert. Rosemary Shrager demonstrated at the show, hosted classroom sessions and judged competitions and bake-offs.

Great British Bake Off winner John Whaite said: “The Cake & Bake Show just gets bigger and bigger. This show has not disappointed. I’ve had such a lot of fun over the last three days.”

The second London show follows on from the success of the sell-out show in Manchester held in April this year, where 32,000 pieces of cake and over 10,500 pies were sold over the three days. The show will return to Manchester Central on 4-6 April 2014.
