Mayridge represent events industry at APPG Inquiry on Europe
Evesham-based experiential events agency Mayridge gave evidence to an All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) Inquiry last week on behalf of the creative industries. The inquiry, entitled ‘How to make the EU’s single market work for the UK’s creative service industries’, saw the business represent events, exhibitions and brand activations.
The inquiry which is looking at how to liberalise services in the EU, is being led by the APPG on European Reform and was one of a series of meetings attended by representatives from a number of industry sectors in the UK.
Attending on behalf of Mayridge was Sarah Cox, Client Services Director at Mayridge, who commented, “It’s important that our client’s and the greater creative event industry's viewpoints are best represented within any inquiry that looks at how the European Union works for the creative industries, it was a fascinating session.”
Sarah was also asked to look into the regulatory regime for the creative service sector and the challenges it poses to firms, as well as the practical barriers to a genuine EU Single Market. Mayridge was able to provide a host of information from its experience in hosting major events in the UK, Europe and around the world.
“From an industry perspective we feel that the UK events industry has a great reputation that means we can export our creative talents to major events all over the world. The main assistance from government is to support our clients in their ambitions to take their events internationally without regulation or red tape holding them back, and in doing so to create more jobs here in the UK,” Sarah continued.
The evidence conducted through the interviews will be used to publish a report that will then be used to make recommendations to government departments. It will also be presented to major business and corporate organisations including the City of London Corporation, Lloyd’s of London, the European Retail Roundtable, and the Federation of Small Businesses.
