<p>More than half a million pounds is expected to be generated for the Dundee economy as the city hosts a major conference aimed at addressing the issue of sustainable construction over the summer. </p><p>Starting on July 8th, the three-day long industry event, entitled Concrete: Construction's Sustainable Option will bring together around 500 specialist delegates and numerous speakers and experts in the Scottish city, all of whom are expected to put forward and share up-to-the-minute developments and information. </p><p>In addition, the conference will highlight the importance of the engineering industry as a whole implementing sustainable working practices as it looks to deal with environmental concerns while also reacting to rising costs caused by the current global economic environment. </p><p>Professor Ravindra Dhir, director of the Concrete Technology Unit at Dundee University, told the city's Press and Journal newspaper that addressing the future of concrete will be the key focus of the event. </p><p>He said: "Creating the occasion for significant discussions and networking opportunities sector, the congress will be extremely valuable for those involved in the use and beneficial exploitation of concrete."</p><p>The news comes on the back of yet another successful oil industry conference held in the Scottish city of Aberdeen, which also attracted some of the world's leading experts in the field. <img alt="ADNFCR-1753-ID-18652789-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1753&it..." /></p>
