<p>Manchester's corporate conferencing and events industry is set to benefit from a major overhaul, it has been confirmed. </p><p>With nearby Liverpool currently enjoying massive popularity as a conferencing destination, with the city due to welcome the ABTA annual meeting back to the UK for the first time in a decade, Manchester looks keen to keep the pace. </p><p>Lancashire Cricket Club is currently leading the way, having unveiled plans to increase the capacity of its Old Trafford stadium by 1,000 seats, though crucially it is keen to keep disruption to its conferencing business to a minimum. </p><p>As such, the club will be relocating its events facilities into a marquee in the car park so as not to lose any business, Crain's Manchester Business has reported. </p><p>"Conferencing and events is a huge part of our commercial activities and something we get a lot of repeat business from," a spokesman was quoted as saying. </p><p>At the same time, Manchester is also looking to take advantage of the interest in British cycling caused by Olympic successes and host the Track World Cup at the start of November. <br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1753-ID-18753874-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1753&it..." /></p>
