A new family-run conference centre has opened its doors in Thornby, intent on appealing to event organisers from busines. . .

<p>A new family-run conference centre has opened its doors in Thornby, intent on appealing to event organisers from businesses across the region, reports gazettelive.co.uk.</p><p>The M M Banqueting and Conference Suites offer state-of-the-art facilities for a wide range of functions, from corporate events through to proms, parties and workshops. The new development was designed and refurbished by businessman Mehboob Ahmad, who spent £1.75 million developing the Jamal Building after his father's clothing business, M M Knitwear, the previous occupant, was forced to close.</p><p>Mr Ahmad kept the M&M name in honour of his father and has now designed a multi-functional venue which should appeal to conference organisers and workshops alike. He told gazettelive.co.uk: "We can accommodate everything from conferences, training days, workshops, school training days, proms, Christmas parties and weddings."</p><p>The various rooms of the building are named after his children and grandfather to add a personal touch and the biggest suite can hold 800 people.</p><p>It is hoped that the new facilities will help to revitalise the local economy in Thornby.</p><p>According to dailyrecord.co.uk, SNO!zone in Braewood offers Christmas parties complete with indoor snow and tobogganing.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1753-ID-18825930-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1753&it..." /></p>
