De Boer celebrates Olympic rowing success
De Boer has played its part in welcoming home Britain’s Olympic medalists by providing a structure to host a party at the historic Leander Club on the banks of the River Thames.
Earlier this year De Boer secured a five-year contract to provide facilities to the prestigious club during Henley Royal Regatta. However the Brackley-based company was also asked to provide a party venue, measuring 15 metres by 20 metres, at the home of British rowing alongside the clubhouse to celebrate Team GB’s rowing success.
John Cochrane, De Boer’s Sales Director – Events, said: “We’ve already built a solid relationship with Leander Club by working with them for the past three years. However it’s always wonderful to be invited back for additional projects and this party was one to remember. Meeting the medalists was a real privilege.”
Britain’s rowing medal haul of two gold, two silver and two bronze at the Beijing Olympics underlined the country’s strength in the sport. It was the best performance at an Olympic rowing regatta for a century and 13 Leander athletes won medals, most of them present at the party to celebrate their achievement.
Paul Budd OBE, Leander Club’s General Manager, said: “We have an excellent working relationship with De Boer and they’ve helped bring an additional element of style and comfort to complement the elegance of our clubhouse. Their structures help us to raise our game in the hospitality market, as we aim to raise the standards of rowing in Britain.”
The party on Saturday October 11th in the De Boer structure followed a reception nearby, a row-past of all the crews, an open-top bus tour of Henley and a further reception at the Town Hall. However it was the gathering at Leander Club – which has won more Olympic and World Championship gold medals than any other club in any sport anywhere in the world – which will be most widely remembered.
De Boer will be back at Henley-on-Thames for next summer’s Royal Regatta supplying a double-decker Presidents structure to house hospitality areas, bars, restaurants, a souvenir shop, kitchens and toilet and washroom facilities.
