Conference organisers vote Manchester into poll top three
<p>Conference organisers have declared Manchester to be one of the top places in the world to hold a conference, according to how-do.co.uk.</p><p>Event organisers and industry professionals polled by Conference and Incentive Travel decided that the UK city was only bettered by London and Barcelona, while it ranked ahead of Las Vegas, Berlin, Athens, Birmingham and Edinburgh. The polling success reflects the investment that the city has poured into its conference sector infrastructure by expanding the number of event venues on offer </p><p>The result indicates that the investment has also meant that Manchester offers quality conference facilities to business tourists from around the world that are virtually unmatched in the sector, and continues to draw substantial interest despite the current economic climate.</p><p>The city received a significant profile boost and economic stimulant last year when the Labour party conference came to Manchester.</p><p>Rochdale Online reports that major Manchester events venue the Heywood Civic Centre was declared most improved performer for civic, cultural and community venues 2008, at the APSE (Association of Public Sector Excellence) Awards.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1753-ID-18965903-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1753&it..." /></p>
