<p>The Arena and Conference Centre (ACC) Liverpool has announced that it turned a £16,000 profit in its first full year of operation.</p><p>According to un-audited figures, the facility generated a £12 million turnover and the venue's bosses said the results represented an "added bonus" on top of a successful year which as seen it host the MTV European Music Awards and the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Awards.</p><p>Bob Prattey, chief executive of ACC Liverpool, which comprises the BT Convention Centre and the Echo Arena and is owned by Liverpool City Council, said he was "pleased" with the figures.</p><p>"Generally it takes several years to build up the programme and to refine operating costs in order to break even," he explained.</p><p>The news follows the recent announcement that ACC Liverpool secured the Labour Party Conference for 2011.</p><p>Manchester Central will also stage the 2010, 2012 and 2014 events as the party's annual convention remains in the north-west for the next five years.<br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1753-ID-19324938-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1753&it..." /></p>
