Matt Sims of Revelation Events appointed to chair ESSA Communications Working Group.
Sims, MD of international events company Revelation has been appointed Chairman of the working group charged with driving the communications agenda for the Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA). The group is tasked with looking at all aspects of the associations communication agenda and Matt already has a vision for the group:
“This group has one key objective – to make membership of ESSA something that all customers will demand when placing contracts, from this everything else will follow. I have already seen at first hand during the recent Clarion tender process, that major organisers recognise ESSA as a badge of quality. We have a number of recent cases where clients have demanded ESSA membership from their contractors and we will be deploying campaigns to ensure this becomes a matter of course.”
The ESSA Communications Working Group is already looking at an end user campaign to promote using an ESSA member and we have appointed an agency to deliver this campaign. The recent appointment of pr company Vivid Ink has already seen an increase in news coverage in the press.
“Communicating the benefits of using ESSA members and the value of ESSA membership through the three platforms of standards, value and community has already delivered results for organisers and end users. We intend to make joining and using ESSA a “no brainer” decision.” he added.
ESSA has always been driven by its membership and the addition of the Communications Working Group to the existing Executive Board, Sustainability, Logistics and Technical Working Groups, ESSA members are now playing a full part in developing the association.
ESSA Director Chris Skeith commented: “Matt has been an active member of ESSA from the start and with him in the chair I am sure that this group will have a profound effect on our success. The strength and growth of any association is dependent upon member engagement and in this case the need was identified by ESSA members at their strategic conference, the G50. The outputs of this group should help to make ESSA membership a pre-requisite for clients’.
