Yorkshire event organisers 'record 31% increase in turnover'

The Yorkshire-based event organisers, which manages events including conferences, product launches and roadshows for blue chip companies, said its turnover increased from £30.3 million in 2008 to £39.8 million last year.

Operating profits grew by 32 per cent, rising from £1.1 million in 2008 to £1.5 million in 2009.

Chief executive Martin Parry said the company is "delighted" with the figures, adding that they demonstrate World Events' ability to "deliver increasing profits even in challenging economic and market conditions".

"Our strategy of focusing on the pharmaceutical sector has proven to be a sound one, with renewed contracts from a number of our existing clients as well as winning new contracts from global and regional clients," he added.

Earlier this year, the company said it had won a number of new contracts with clients including Vectura, Bayer, Roche Netherlands and NHS Yorkshire and Humber.
