Worthington Group acquire portfolio of events
Worthington Media Portfolio, a subsidiary of the Worthington Group, have acquired a portfolio of events and publications, comprised of the Digital Marketing Show, Great British Entrepreneur Awards, Britain Means Business and Essential Cyclist, from event industry veterans Simon Burton and Nick James.
Worthington Group Plc is a British Investment Company with four areas of focus: Property, litigation claims, emerging markets and new economy. As a result of this deal, the company will form Worthington Media Portfolio Ltd to hold the investments with plans for further media acquisitions as the group rapidly expands its portfolio.
Worthington Group CEO Doug Ware commented: “Simon and Nick have put together a talented team that has the experience to grow the media business quickly and profitably. Additionally it’s a huge advantage for Worthington to have such a depth of digital marketing skill and knowledge within the group. Digital Media has been one of the fastest growing sectors throughout the recession and is set to grow rapidly with the improving economic climate.”
Simon Burton added: “This is a hugely exciting deal for us. We believe passionately in communities. We believe even more passionately in the power of face-to-face plus digital to unlock those communities. Worthington shares our vision and are committed to funding us to acquire media businesses that are underperforming because of their failure to combine live plus digital."
Both Simon Burton and Nick James will continue to be actively involved in the business.
The Digital Marketing Show takes place on 19-20 November at Excel London, and is co-located with Britain Means Business, which is specifically designed to deliver advice and support to entrepreneurs, business owners and directors.
