Thandi lands the biggie
Paul Thandi has been appointed chief executive of the NEC Group following the departure of Andrew Morris. Thandi joined the NEC as commercial director in April 2005 and has been part of the executive board since then.
“It is a privilege to be given the role of leading such an iconic and high profile organisation that is an important part of the fabric of the regional and national economies,” he says.
“I am particularly excited to be taking on this role at a time when the exhibition and events industry has a one-off chance to grab a greater share of the marketing mix. With traditional advertising having fallen some 30 per cent since 2000, face-to-face is fast becoming recognised as the most effective way to talk to customers and I intend to take the massive potential that exhibitions and events represent to influential marketing and brand directors, to ensure that the industry takes full advantage of this current golden opportunity”
