Nottingham launches top conference-city bid
<p>Nottingham has announced plans to forge itself a reputation as one of the top conference cities in the UK.</p><p>The UK Conference Market Survey, conducted by the Meetings Industry Association, recently declared the city to be the sixth most popular destination for business tourists in the country and authorities are keen to build upon this impressive result. </p><p>The city is already set to host several major conferences in 2009, with conference organisers busy with a series of events including Confex and Event UK, which should further boost Nottingham's national profile.</p><p>Helen Sisson, tourism leader at Experience Nottinghamshire, said: "The Nottinghamshire Convention Bureau will fly the flag at key national exhibitions like Confex and Event UK in 2009, targeting the association and corporate sectors in particular."</p><p>Ms Sisson added that the organisation would also be looking to recruit 'ambassadors' from the major corporate sectors of the city, to help promote Nottingham as a region worth visiting.</p><p>Thisisnottingham.co.uk reports that top-class Nottingham restaurant Sat Bains keeps the single Michelin star this year that it first won back in 2003. <br/><img alt="ADNFCR-1753-ID-18992026-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1753&it..." /></p>
