New Technology in the Event Industry
We have had a number of press releases in recently that publicise the new technologies available to utilise in the events industry, both for organisers and exhibitors. Here, we highlight a few of the emerging technologies that can enhance your event.
For organisers of events many of the new technologies available can simplify administration and communication in the run-up, during and after the event. For example, there are new event registration technologies like event check-in which offers planners simple, stylish and low cost registration solutions that can replace spreadsheets or printed lists with iPads. Enhanced communication technologies for during the event include CST’s new two-way radio plus package which extends the uses of radios. Their system incorporates the latest Motorola SL4000 two-way radio which when linked to the CST Genesis communications software package allows text messages to be sent directly to the radio from computers and displays on screen any critical alarms monitored and reported to it by CST’s Genesis system.
For exhibitors and attendees there are amazing new apps like the business card scanner Camcard which enables you to easily collect business card details via your android or Iphone. Also Splash Top enables you to access your office PC from your smart phone or tablet.
You can also use your iPad during the event to show presentations or to keep your social marketing websites constantly updated which is a huge plus point for many exhibitors. Exhibitor Media Group, the leader in trade show and corporate event marketing education, have just released research from Exhibitor Magazine’s 2012 Social-Media Marketing Survey showing that the percentage of marketers using social media in their exhibition programs has increased by nearly 90 percent. Those using social media claim increased brand awareness, enriched relationships with clients and prospects, increased booth traffic and event attendance, additional press coverage and increased sales as a direct result of their social media campaigns. There are also event apps which allow you to interact with attendees through social features. You can make your event content – session info, speaker bios, surveys etc. – accessible at any time and attendees can participate in conversations and post comments and ratings. These apps also make it possible to get behavioural data about the interests and activities of attendees, showing what event content was accessed, which sessions were attended and get feedback straight away.
With new technologies constantly emerging stand and display suppliers are introducing innovative new ways of incorporating them into your stand display. A perfect example of this is Eurostand Display’s new Centro iPadDisplay family of secure tablet computer enclosures (see the product press release here).
