NEC launch event industry training programme

The NEC Group’s Oncourse Centre of Excellence has launched a scenario based training programme designed for anyone involved in the day-to-day running of events.

The NEC Group’s Oncourse Centre of Excellence has launched a scenario based training programme designed for anyone involved in the day-to-day running of events.

The Oncourse Centre of Excellence, which provides Health and Safety training across the UK, has teamed up with Professor Chris Kemp, who has nearly 35 years of experience in the events industry, to design the five-day course. The programme combines theory and application giving trainees the opportunity to learn through simulated venue scenarios.

The course will begin in December and can be tailored as required to offer training for any event such as conferences, retail, music and sport. The accredited certificate will focus primarily on crowd science, management, dynamics, psychology and social interaction.

Professor Kemp commented: "There is a lot of theory surrounding crowd science, but before now there has been nothing that enables trainees to put the theory into practice in a real life, real time situation.

"This course fills the gap in the training market offering practical scenario-based training. This is something I have been looking to do for a while so I am delighted to be working with Oncourse to support the creation of this programme."

Julie Fletcher, health and safety trainer for Oncourse added: "We are excited to be launching such a unique training course to the industry. The NEC Group has been running courses for its staff for over 10 years but delivering training through Oncourse is still a relatively new offering."

The first course will run at The NEC from 8th to 12th December and plans are already in place to extend throughout the UK and abroad.
