MAN WHO PLAYED A KEY LOGISTICAL ROLE IN 2012 OLYMPICS LAUNCHES NEW VENTURE
In the staging of the 2012 Olympics, the man who played a key logistical role has used his experience to launch a new venture. The creation of the equestrian venue at Greenwich Park, together with finding 55,000 metres of trackway was masterminded by John Davy.
Now he has set up Floorbox to satisfy the temporary flooring requirements for all kinds of events and festivals throughout the UK.
“The Olympic really opened my eyes to the key hole temporary flooring has to play when it comes to the successful organisation of an event and how versatile it can be.
“Nothing shows this better than the equestrian event held on the Royal Park at Greenwich which is on the side of a hill. This meant we had to build a special deck to even things out; one end of which was about two feet off the ground and the other 15 feet! Not only did it have to be completely level but had to sustain the weight of 2000 tonnes of sand.”
“That is the level of experience I, and the rest of my team at Floorbox will bring to those involved in the events and festival industries. There are huge amounts of temporary flooring options available and the job is to be at the end of a telephone to give customers the very best advice and the perfect product for their needs.
