'In the Rough 2013' open for booking as dates and venue announced
The event industry charity golf day, In the Rough, will take place at the highly acclaimed, four star, Forest of Arden Hotel and Country Club on the 23rd July 2013, on the Donald Steel, 7213 yard Arden Championship Course.
In the Rough 2013 will be supporting Great Ormond Street Hospital as its UK charity and Events for Namuwongo as its overseas charity. It is based on the highly successful BECA & ESSA Golf Days, bringing together organisers, venues and service suppliers in a day that combines fun, entertainment and an opportunity to network.
In 2012 the event was fully booked, with a complete 18 Tee shotgun start, and teams made up from all parts of the industry.
The industry associations responsible for In the Rough are ESSA, (Event Supplier and Services Association), supported by AEO (Association of Event Organisers), AEV (Association of Event Venues) and our industry promotional body FaceTime and, for the first time this year, the day has been shaped by a new steering group comprising individuals from across the industry, Luke Facey – Alfa Design & Display (ESSA), Paul MacDonald - Centaur Exhibitions (AEO) and Graham Stephenson – Business Design Centre (AEV).
The steering group has commented on the event, Luke Facey was “pleased to see the BECA and ESSA Golf days extend into more of an industry charity event which has stood the test of time”. Paul MacDonald said "It's good to hook up with new UK charity in GOSH, and continue our support for overseas Namuwongo – last year we raised over £4k and hope to beat this in 2013.”
The steering group have committed to donate part of every ticket sale to the Charities and is looking forward to developing ideas with our supporters and sponsors to add some fun and more fundraising elements to the day in addition to a raffle and auction in the evening.
Graham Stephenson concluded, “Having attended many of the previous events, the Forest of Arden is a real step up both in terms of the hotel facilities and also the course. In the hope of good weather we’ve secured the Arden suite for the whole day and evening which overlooks the 18th, with a large patio area, so attendees can share their exploits from the day, develop and renew relationships with each other, and have a bit of time out from their hectic schedules. The course itself is incredibly well kept and is forgiving in many places but challenging in others providing the perfect balance for a corporate day. We look forward to seeing many of our industry colleagues on the 23rd.”
