Herbs on Film – produced by AVT Connect
As suppliers to Waitrose and with an established retail and trade customer base since 1958, R&G Herbs recently decided to get their name better known within the consumer environment. They wanted to reach out to the end consumer and share some of their extensive knowledge of herbs and generally spread the ethos of their brand.
Established in 1958, R&G is a third generation family business growing and supplying fresh-cut culinary herbs to the UK retail, food service and wholesale sectors including Waitrose and Ocado. They are market leaders in sourcing and supplying a comprehensive range of fully accredited herbs and pride themselves on the highest specification of fresh ingredients combined with an unrivalled level of service, product knowledge and technical excellence.
To help them achieve their goals, Brand Remix, a creative design consultancy, examined how R&G was perceived within the market and media. They advised R&G to release a series of short, informative videos which could be used in a variety of knowledge-based and promotional formats. Educating consumers whilst achieving greater exposure and brand awareness through social media channels was a key objective.
For the first video the subject of “how to freeze fresh herbs and still retain their flavour” was selected as having universal interest. The brief called for a very clean, clear, concise production - something that would hold the audience’s attention for the full 3 minutes.
AVT Connect was called upon to direct, film and produce the short infomercial. The entire shoot was done with a crew of just two people. Matt Valentine, AVT Connect’s Creative Video Producer, directed and filmed the sequence using an in-house 5D (DSLR) and a variety of prime lenses and then edited the video to final output quality.
Filming took place at Tante Marie Culinary Academy, the oldest cookery school in England and part owned by Gordon Ramsay Holdings, which provided the perfect, clean, luminous white background required for the video. It also had all the essential equipment required by the Chef.
The final video has been uploaded by Ocado onto their YouTube channel and can be seen here.
