CMP on acquisition trail
CMP has bought the Thames Gateway Forum from Andrew Dowding for £3m. The move follows the firm’s purchase of the National Venue Show from Waypoint two months ago. Dowding launched Thames Gateway Forum to great acclaim two years ago and will remain with the show in the immediate future. “It’s an emotional time,” he says. “This wasn’t a case of a corporate selling to another corporate, it was our baby. I think it’s gone to a good home though.”
Meanwhile, rumours are circulating the industry that CMP has a significantly sized war chest with which to make further purchases and launches. Despite repeated attempts, no-one at the firm was available for comment.
