CIPD moves annual conference from Harrogate to Manchester
The ongoing success of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development's (CIPD) annual conference has led the professional body to announce a change of venue for next year's event. Up until now the recruitment industry's conference has been held in Harrogate and, indeed, this year's event will still go ahead in the Yorkshire town between September 16th and September 18th.
However, in 2009, the CIPD will be moving proceedings across the Pennines to the Manchester Central Convention Complex (MCCC) in order to cope with growing numbers of guests, both from home and abroad. Nina Harman, CIPD head of conferences and exhibitions, explained: "Manchester Central's state of the art facilities offer us the flexibility to be innovative in developing the conference and exhibition from 2009 and on into the future, for the benefit of the thousands of people management and development professionals who join us for the event each year.
Manchester offers excellent transport links for our domestic and international guests, and also offers a wide range of accommodation and other facilities to cater for all those who visit the event over the three days." The decision was made after a rigorous process of consultation with conference delegates and visitors over the past few years, it was also revealed.
