Big names lined up for north-east entrepreneurs' conference

<p>One half of the global musical phenomenon Eurythmics has been confirmed as the latest big name set to appear at a major conference in the north-east later this week. </p><p>Sunderland-born Dave Stewart, who formed the group alongside Annie Lennox, and who has also achieved success working in a variety of multimedia businesses, is due to speak at the north-east's Entrepreneur Forum's annual black-tie conference, which will be held at the Newcastle Gateshead Hilton on Thursday. </p><p>As Carole Beverley, chief executive of the professional body, explained: "Dave Stewart's story is a classic of local boy making good. He is a real inspiration to people in this region."</p><p>The conference, named Progres5ive, will also see promoter Harvey Goldsmith give advice on running effective events, while former supermodel Elle McPherson and Angus Thirlwell, founders of an eponymous lingerie brand and Hotel Chocolat respectively, will also speak to the 300 business leaders and entrepreneurs expected to attend. </p><p>Light relief will come from the comedy impressionist Jon Culshaw, of Dead Ringers fame, who will also be presenting the Entrepreneur of the Year award. </p><p><img alt="ADNFCR-1753-ID-18599374-ADNFCR" src="http://feeds.directnews.co.uk/feedtrack/justcopyright.gif?feedid=1753&it..." /></p>
