Association of Event Organisers (AEO) report strong financial results
Association of Event Organisers (AEO) have announced strong financial results for the year ended 31 December 2010, showing increased sales and lower costs, together with greater investment in industry promotion via FaceTime.
Key achievements include:
- Sales increased by 12%
- Cost of running the secretariat reduced by 3%
- Increased investment in FaceTime by 252%
AEO Treasurer Malcolm Taylor commented: “Over the 2010 and now 2011 financial years the key aim of the Association has been to keep overhead costs at a low level in order to ensure that the large part of a member’s subscription is put towards the generic promotion campaign FaceTime.
The recession has taken its toll on some of our members but total membership is still at a credible 92 companies which enabled AEO to contribute £117,000 to the FaceTime campaign. At the end of the 2010 financial year AEO has a strong balance sheet and we were pleased to have achieved many of the objectives we set ourselves.”
AEO Chairman Douglas Emslie added: “It's been another successful year for AEO as we continue to deliver on our commitments to providing best value, best events and bestservices. I would like to thank our members, partners and sponsors for their on-going loyalty to AEO and assure them that our focus remains as always on delivering best value."
AEO Chief Executive Austen Hawkins said: “I am delighted with AEO’s strong financial results, and I am especially proud of having achieved these in spite of the unprecedented levels of uncertainty in the financial markets and the challenges that the economic turmoil and recession presented for businesses and the industry at large. I would like to extend my gratitude to the AEO Board, our esteemed members, our valued partners and sponsors and the AEO secretariat for their continuous support.”
