Association of Event Organisers (AEO) announces new Chairman
Association of Event Organisers (AEO) announces Stephen Brooks, CEO of Mack-Brooks Exhibitions Ltd, as its new Chairman. Stephen takes over the role from Douglas Emslie, MD of Tarsus Group PLC, who has been AEO Chairman since September 2009.
Stephen’s election took place at the recent AEO Annual General Meeting, at which Paul Michael, MD of Quartz Business Media, was elected Vice Chairman of the Board, succeeding Paul Byrom of Upper Street Events. Malcolm Taylor, MD of Brintex, remains Treasurer.
Stephen Brooks commented: “I am honoured to take over the chairmanship of AEO. The association will make promoting the industry its priority and through its marketing arm, FaceTime, will drive activity that influences the people who spend money on events. We have more networking opportunities coming up and will continue to make AEO the hub for the industry to meet, establish best practice, share ideas and do business. We will continue to work on services and events that deliver value to our members. And we will look to grow membership and expand our community”.
Stephen added: “I would like to thank Douglas Emslie for chairing the association in such challenging times and for his valuable contribution during the past two years”.
AEO CEO Karim Halwagi said: “Stephen’s experience and high profile within the events and exhibitions industry will be a great asset to the association as he takes up the chair. I look forward to working with him and Paul.”
Also elected to join the Board were Neil Felton of FESPA, Austen Hawkins of F2F Events, Carsten Holm of Diversified Business Communications UK and Phil Soar of Transec Exhibitions.
