AEO announce Excellence Awards 2013 winners
The Association of Event Organisers (AEO) awarded 21 gongs at its 2013 AEO Excellence Awards on 21 June at London’s Old Billingsgate.
The NEC in Birmingham won the Sustainability Award for its efforts in “making the greatest strides to operate in a sustainable manner”. In 2012, the venue won the Venue Team of the Year award.
“Sustainability is at the heart of all we do,” said Paul Jenkins, the NEC’s Sustainability and Environmental Manager. “We monitor the environmental impact of all our operations and undertake key projects to make our venue more environmentally responsible.”
Other winners included Global Experience Specialists (GES), who won the Service Supplier and Production Design Award, and Centaur, who won the Innovation Award for Marketing Week Live.
“Service Supplier of the Year is an especially important award to win for GES as this is at the core of everything we do,” said GES Head of Marketing, Malene Stanley. “The delivery of London 2012 was a huge project for GES and the scope and scale of the event was unprecedented.”
The Business Design Centre won the award for Venue Team of the Year. It manages over 70 exhibitions and 200 conferences and meetings a year.
Other awards included Nick Forster, the Group Commercial Director for Reed Exhibitions, winning Outstanding Contribution to the Industry and Clerkenwell Design Week Ltd winning Best Live Event.
Mash Media’s Event Production Show was shortlisted at the AEO Awards under the Best Tradeshow Exhibition under 2,000sqm.
